Exploring the possibilities of industrial hemp as an agricultural commodity in West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia. November 5, 2014 – The Graduate Student Advancement Society at West Virginia University is hosting a symposium on industrial hemp in the state of West Virginia.

The Industrial Hemp Symposium’s goal is to educate students, faculty, and community members about the potential of embracing a newly legal billion-dollar industry. Legislation in the United States and West Virginia provides an opportunity for researchers of West Virginia University to grow the future of this state’s economy.

Members of the Virginia Hemp Company and the West Virginia Hemp Farmers Cooperative will also be discussing their experiences working in the hemp industry.

Everyone is invited to attend. The Industrial Hemp Symposium will be held in the Rhododendron room in the Mountain Lair on November 18th, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Representatives will be promoting the event in the Mountain Lair brick yard with a hemp products giveaway on November 17th and 18th.
